Life Long Learners : Chocolate Class

In this course, Gordon Rowland of the Life Long Learners of the Central Coast will explore the who, what, where, when and why of chocolate. The history of chocolate goes back approximately 3800 years. It has been used as currency, medication, ceremonial offerings, and a drink for royalty. It also has a darker side, including the use of slave labor and human sacrifice.

We will follow the story throughout history and into modern times where you will learn about the rise of a multi-billion dollar industry that has its footprint not only in delicious food but also in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries.

We will also have an opportunity to taste a few chocolates and explore the varied flavors and textures in different types.

Members Only. RSVP Required. Call 805-457-4200 or Email events@villaggioslo.com
